Giorgos Limakis was born in Chania, where he began his music studies at the age of 5. He later continued his academic studies in contemporary classical music in London, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Music and a Master of Arts in Music (Composition) from Middlesex University of London.
He was a personal student of composer and head of the postgraduate musical theatre department at the Royal College of Manchester, Christopher Littlewood. In 2010, he won 1st prize in the nationwide H.O.N. competition in Athens with the group Natural Sound Trio, in the contemporary music ensemble category, along with Despoina Drakaki and Euripides Stamatiou.
He has collaborated with renowned performers such as Haris Alexiou, Eleftheria Arvanitaki, Nikos Portokaloglou, Dimitra Galani, Dionysis Savvopoulos, Elli Paspala, Giannis Kotsiras, Mario Frangoulis, Kostas Hatzis, Haig Yazdjian, as well as composers like Eleni Karaindrou, Stavros Lantsias, Achilleas Persidis, and others from the Greek and international music scenes.
He was a core member of Stavros Xarchakos's orchestra for two years, performing in concerts both in Greece and abroad. He currently lives in Athens, where he participates in various music ensembles as a musician and arranger. He also composes music for his own group, featuring Giannis Kyrimkyridis (piano), David Lynch (saxophone), and Thanos Chatzianagnostou (drums). He offers private lessons in guitar and composition.
